Grace Notes Homeschool Conservatory

Parent Meeting, Aug 10, 6pm at
Calvary Baptist Church's Gym

Look for us at the Southeast Homeschool Expo in Cobb, July 30-31!

Grace Notes Homeschool Conservatory is a non-profit music program designed to provide homeschooled students with the opportunity to learn music and play together in a Christian environment. Run by a group of volunteer homeschooling families, Grace Notes was founded in 2009, but was started in 2007 as Joyful Noise Northeast, an off-shoot of the highly respected Cobb County-based Joyful Noise Band founded by Susan Davis.

Our vision, theme, and goal of all instruction is that our students will “learn to love music, love making music, and develop their talents to make music together to the glory of God.”

Grace Notes Homeschool Conservatory provides group musical instruction on several levels in Concert Bands, Jazz Band, Marching Band, Choruses, Guitar, Recorders, and Strings. As God prospers, we hope to add more classes such as orchestra, preschool music, music history, woodwind and brass ensembles, and whatever else we can manage!

We work with students from the earliest beginner level (students who do not as yet read music or even know which end of the instrument to blow into!) up through more advanced students who may audition for All-State.  We help students progress to playing increasingly complex and challenging music, exploring a variety of musical styles, from classical, sacred, hymns, and praise music, to marches, modern, swing, jazz and the ever popular Fight Songs!

We provide opportunities for students to perform and stretch their level of proficiency as they audition for chairs and All-State in higher level groups, and to grow in leadership abilities, as older and more experienced students may assist the directors as mentors to younger students.

Our directors are all chosen on the basis of their Christian faith and musical experience, and all are well qualified to lead the classes they instruct.

Our students are required to have a high level of personal responsibility by maintaining a regular home practice schedule, attending weekly classes, and performing in Winter and Spring Concerts, as well as in various special performances throughout the area (such as the Lilburn Christmas parade, Homeschool Day at the State Capitol, and other local venues). Students may go on to perform in their church’s Worship Team, local Youth and Adult Symphonies, as well as All-State, as a result of their education at Grace Notes, or be inspired to pursue music as a career.

Our Marching Band (“GA Force Marching Band”), performs at all Georgia Force High School home football games, (http://www.forcehighschoolfootball.com/), and also with the Concert Band at other performances.

We rehearse Mondays at Calvary Baptist Church, located on Lawrenceville Hwy. (Hwy. 29) near downtown Lilburn, conveniently located for families in Gwinnett, Dekalb, Rockdale, Hall, Barrow, and north Fulton counties. We welcome you to join us as we seek to teach our students “to learn to love music, love making music, and develop their God-given talents to the glory of God!”
