Band instruction is currently available on five levels, Beginner, Intermediate, Concert, Jazz, and Solo Ensemble. Concert, Jazz and Solo Ensemble appointments are by audition only. Students will enter the Intermediate class with the approval of the instructor. Beginner students will also have a mandatory 30 minute Music Theory class immediately following their band class at no additional cost. Audition requirements for all advanced band classes are listed below.

Beginner Band

Beginner Band is designed for students that have little or no music experience. Beginner band is appropriate for ages 9 and up or students who have taken at least two years of Recorder. All beginner band students must attend an instrument fitting with the band director, Mr. George Uterhardt, before the first class. To schedule an instrument fitting for your student(s), please email Mr. Uterhardt at gracenotesband@gmail.com at your earliest convenience. As of August 2010, all Beginner band students will be required to attend the Beginning Music Theory class. This class is 30 minutes long and will take place immediately following beginner band each week. This class is offered to beginner students at no additional cost. Students in this class must audition out of Beginner Band and into Int Band.
